SpaGuard® Enhanced Shock is a multi-purpose treatment that combines a chlorine-based shock, a clarifier, a flocculant, and a pH buffer in a single product (EPA Reg. No. 5185-475, Bio-Lab, Inc.). The formula centers on sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione (58.2%) alongside sodium persulfate, aluminum sulfate as the flocculant, and a boron salt buffer that helps stabilize pH during treatment.
Use 2–3 tablespoons per 500 gallons, and balance pH to 7.2–7.6 before dosing for best results. Because it's a genuine chlorine-based sanitizer-shock, wait until chlorine drops to 5 ppm or below (or bromine to 8 ppm or below) before re-entering — typically about 15 minutes. It's compatible with chlorine, bromine, ozone, and ionization sanitizer systems.
As a corrosive oxidizer, always add this 6 lb product to water rather than the reverse, and avoid inhaling dust while measuring it out. Combining four functions into one dose makes it a convenient option for spa owners who want fewer separate products to manage during a routine shock treatment.
